About Dr Briffa

Dr Briffa is our Consultant Psychiatrist, specialised in General Adult Psychiatry.  She is a highly experienced Consultant with a proven track record of patient satisfaction (see Testimonials). She found her feet in the right profession, as she truly loves working with individuals to optimise their mental health and neurodiversity.  She also truly loves her expert witness work, using different skills to provide relevant information for the Court.

 

Dr Briffa qualified as a medical doctor from the University of Edinburgh Medical School in 2004.  She then completed comprehensive postgraduate psychiatry training in the NHS across England’s North West and South West regions, in inpatient and community settings.  Her pursuit of excellence also led her to intermediate-level certification in family therapy and systemic practice, further enriching her approach to mental health care, particularly in communication with carers and families.

Dr Briffa has been on the General Medical Council (GMC) specialist register as a Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist since 2012, and has been honing her expertise ever since in both NHS and independent roles.  Her clinical acumen and experience spans the full spectrum of adult mental health conditions and neurodiversity, along with careful consideration as to the value of formal diagnostic language depending on the context and patient preference.

Dr Briffa has extensive experience of helping people back to work from all walks of life and in particular health and social care professionals, Army, Navy and RAF service personnel and military veterans.

 

She believes in staying abreast of the constantly evolving landscape of options to optimise mental health and neurodiversity, including educational, social, occupational, psychological and self-help approaches; functional, nutritional and metabolic psychiatry; medical investigations, prescribed medication and de-prescribing options and much, much more.
