Why choose us?

AFCS Consultant Psychiatrist - Dr Katy Briffa

Dr Briffa specialises in producing Consultant Psychiatrist reports to assist with AFCS and War Pension scheme claims.  She understands how huge a step it can be to ask for help, when you are longing to put everything behind you, move on with your life and suffering with your mental health.  She understands the requirements of the schemes for psychiatric evidence and the importance of staying up to date.

She also has extensive experience of working as a civilian with veterans, service personnel, reservists and their families.  She has worked with DCMH Plymouth and DCMH Leeming, caring for service personnel in the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Army and RAF.  Her work with DCMH and Operation Courage has also supported transition to civilian life for veterans leaving service.

Dr Briffa also understands the particular challenges of supporting individuals with trauma-related illness, in her NHS work, with health and social care professionals.  She is a champion of post-traumatic growth, and understands that engaging with the AFCS/WPS process can be a crucial part of such growth.

Testimonials

Since meeting Dr Katy Briffa she has been amazing with me from going through my absolute lows to slowly progressing.

Since been put on medication which she thought would be beneficial for me I decided to take it and I have improved so much from taking it with my anxiety I feel a lot calmer than what I did a few months ago.

I also feel comfortable and safe talking with her and I can trust her which is a massive deal for me anyway. She has explained things and educated me with what I never thought existed or was unexplained about myself. Which has made me learn a great deal. Dr Katy Briffa never gave up on me either.

So thank you so much for all your help so far. To anyone that has her in the future your in safe hands and will feel comfortable talking with her and opening up.

Dr Katy Briffa thanks again.
