Dr Briffa specialises in producing Consultant Psychiatrist reports to assist with AFCS and War Pension scheme claims. She understands how huge a step it can be to ask for help, when you are longing to put everything behind you, move on with your life and suffering with your mental health. She understands the requirements of the schemes for psychiatric evidence and the importance of staying up to date.
She also has extensive experience of working as a civilian with veterans, service personnel, reservists and their families. She has worked with DCMH Plymouth and DCMH Leeming, caring for service personnel in the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Army and RAF. Her work with DCMH and Operation Courage has also supported transition to civilian life for veterans leaving service.
Dr Briffa also understands the particular challenges of supporting individuals with trauma-related illness, in her NHS work, with health and social care professionals. She is a champion of post-traumatic growth, and understands that engaging with the AFCS/WPS process can be a crucial part of such growth.

What steps are involved?
Step 1: Assessment​
Book an online assessment with a view to establishing if a Consultant Psychiatrist AFCS or WPS report can be provided.
Please allow 90 minutes for the assessment.
After your assessment, you will receive a written opinion and recommendations, including whether an AFCS / WPS report can be provided and whether any corroborating information is required.

Step 2: Report
Where the Consultant Psychiatrist is able to confirm a service attributable or aggravated mental illness or injury during your assessment, we will offer to prepare, a separate chargeable formal report to support your AFCS/WPS claim.

A formal AFCS or WPS report will include a detailed account of your service attributable or aggravated mental illness or injury, and for AFCS applications - a suggested AFCS tariff.
